Spititual Healing in Hospitals and Clinics

by Sandy Edwards (Findhorn Press 2021)

Whether you’re a qualified healer working regularly at your church or centre or perhaps you’re a spiritualist who includes asking spirit for healing, or just someone interested in spirit healing, this is the book.

Sandy Edwards did healing work, often with colleagues, and got good results, with positive comments from patients. An NHS gastroenterology consultant at the NHS Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham, Dr Sukhdev Singh, saw some leaflets and recommended patients to her healing group and was impressed with results.

Sandy and colleagues worked regularly in conjunction with the NHS medics and Sandy’s systematic audits over time showed lasting improvements for patients from healing. Seizing the opportunity of National Lottery funds being made available for clinical research, a full clinical trial involving the local NHS and the University of Birmingham was carried out. Results showed scientifically significant positive improvements in symptoms and quality of life for patients with different gastroenterology illness.

Sandy is well-read in other healing studies, citing for example (p116) work at the University of Northampton which suggests that healing is not “just” a placebo effect as it works on plants and animals. Sandy’s personal opinion is that the mechanism of healing may be at a quantum level and she is clear, as applies to all medical care, that intervention enables the body and mind to heal itself.

Sandy Edwards worked with the Healing Trust, though she includes SNU healing as a recognised qualification. She is a firm advocate of the need for properly trained healers with qualifications and points out the possible financial savings to the NHS in improving patients’ health and wellbeing through complementary spiritual healing. The book has many useful summary comments on aspects of healing, including practical exercises for self-healing.

If you, or any colleagues or skeptical friends doubt that spiritual healing works, lend them this book!

If you, or any colleagues or skeptical friends doubt that spiritual healing works, lend them this book. Armed with Sandy Edward’s thorough review of the field, you have a great understanding of  the science of healing. Last word might go to Dr Sukhdev Singh: “Sandy’s engaging book tracks how we went from anecdotes to a substantial and rigorous clinical trial that revealed significant findings.”
